Ragweed Relief: Your 5-Step Survival Guide from the Ear, Nose & Throat Center

Fall is coming, which means ragweed is in the air — but you don’t have to suffer through it. At the Ear, Nose & Throat Center, a division of Midwest ENT, we’re here to help you breathe easier.

First, What Is Ragweed — And Why Should You Care?

Ragweed is a common weed found throughout much of the United States, especially in suburban to rural areas and open fields. Each plant can release billions of pollen grains into the air during late summer and early fall, making it one of the most potent seasonal allergy triggers.

For patients with allergic rhinitis (hay fever), ragweed pollen can cause symptoms such as:

  • Sneezing
  • Nasal congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Itchy eyes, nose, and throat
  • Sinus pressure and headaches

Even if you don’t live near ragweed plants, its lightweight pollen can travel hundreds of miles on the wind — meaning almost no region is immune. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), pollen exposure can worsen asthma and other respiratory conditions.

How We Can Help

At the Ear, Nose & Throat Center, we specialize in allergy testing to identify the right root causes, helping patients manage seasonal allergies through personalized care, and treatment plans. Understanding ragweed and its impact is the first step toward breathing easier this season.
